Sign up for the last couple of organised free summer events and see what else is happening as part of the new friendship group for adults in Kirklees via the Friendlees Facebook group…
The new Friendlees group in partnership with TSL Kirklees and HappyU has been making a splash in the local press and is gathering momentum. The group now has a voluntary committee to help things run smoothly and is staying true to its original aim to be member-led, with any group member able to post or organise an event and invite other members to join them. Current activities include pop concerts, meals, coffee & pub meet-ups, day retreats, family fun days, football and rounders, book clubs, canal boat & train trips, with events scheduled right up to Christmas.
The next Summer of Fun free event is this Saturday at Wilton Park, Batley and includes a guided walk, music, poetry and afternoon tea. Book via Facebook or contact Kelly on 07853 416740.
Places available at a range of free activities, including a free meal, across Kirklees, for children and young people
Plus Huddersfield Youth Festival this Saturday
We’d like to say a big thank you to all the groups and organisations who’ve been involved in running the Healthy Holidays programme so far. It was a huge project to pull off at short notice, and despite the initial teething problems, we’ve been getting some great feedback and things are going well.
If you work with young people and families, please encourage them to make use of the service. The 48 clubs are still offering around 1100 places a day for school age children for the remainder of the summer holidays.
Huddersfield Youth Festival
Plus, we’ve been involved in organising a free youth festival this Saturday in Reinwood, Huddersfield with music, food, fairground rides, climbing wall and more.
We Shall Overcome will raise funds for The Welcome Centre, supporting those hit by the worst effects of austerity, this Friday (Good Friday) in Huddersfield.

Event date: 19th April
Venue: Northern Quarter, Huddersfield
Time: 8pm until late
Fee: Donation entry. All funds raised to the Welcome Centre.
