Hear from Kirklees Council, Director of Public Health & West Yorkshire & Harrogate Health & Care Partnership, Director of Mental Health Programmes
Thursday 10th October, 2pm-4pm
Northfield Hall, Huddersfield
It’s that time of year again when we invite you to the TSL Kirklees AGM. This year it’s also World Mental Health Day and so as well as reviewing our progress over the last year and electing trustees, we’ll be focussing on some of the great work that our members do in promoting good mental health, and hearing from:
- Rachel Spencer-Henshall, Strategic Director of Corporate Strategy, Commissioning and Public Health for Kirklees Council, who will be telling us about a new initiative to have dedicated council teams in different places around Kirklees, and a new £1.4 million pot of mental health funding.
- Keir Shillaker, Director of Mental Health Programmes, West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership, telling us about the local priorities and approach to mental health
Plus, you’ll be able to pick up a hard copy of our new report – Ready, Able and Agile: How The Voluntary and Community Sector Adds Social Value to Life in Kirklees.
PLEASE NOTE: This event is at Northfield Hall in Huddersfield and not Northorpe Hall in Mirfield.
Plus inclusion, update on new health & wellbeing initiatives, new TSL Kirklees website & membership package, & new Thriving Kirklees funding.
We’ve decided to keep August’s Members’ Meeting in central Huddersfield so that we can discuss the proposed Kirklees Blueprint for the town centre, and even pop out to look at some of the earmarked sites if necessary. It would be great to be able to pull together some third sector views on the changes.
We’ll also be:
- hearing about inclusion
- getting an update on some of the health and wellbeing initiatives that we heard about at the April meeting
- launching the new TSL Kirklees website & package of member benefits
- finding out about new Thriving Kirklees funding
and of course, we’ll be celebrating Yorkshire Day.
About The Meetings
Our TSL Kirklees Members’ Meetings are held bi-monthly and are an opportunity for our member organisations to get together, share knowledge and experience, and hear from key third sector partners, experts and commissioners about their initiatives and priorities. The meetings are made up of a mixture of speakers, workshops and discussions, networking, and opportunities to promote our services and activities and get help and support from peers. We try our best to make sure it’s two hours well spent and worth the time out of your organisation or community business.
Non-members charities, community and voluntary group and social enterprises are welcome to come along as guests before deciding whether they’d like to join. Our aim is to help develop, support and grow a healthy, active and collaborative third sector in Kirklees. Our membership fees therefore are designed to cover the costs of our meetings and member-only activities and allow as many people as possible to take part.
TSL Kirklees Members’ Meeting: Focus on Children and Families
Thursday 13th June
2pm to 4pm
(Please aim to arrive for 1.45pm so that we can start promptly at 2pm as Mel Meggs has limited time available due to an Ofsted Inspection.)
This is a great opportunity for any local third sector organisations who work with children and families to meet and hear from Mel Meggs, the new Director of Children’s Services for Kirklees Council. We want to make sure that she’s aware of the range of vital and innovative work our members do in this field and so we’ll be presenting short case studies from some of our members. And as ever, there’ll be chance to network over tea and cake, make connections and build relationships, and find out who’s doing what in Kirklees.
In addition Groundwork will be telling us how groups in Kirklees can apply for grants of up to £20k for innovative projects around encouraging people into work, training & education (similar to our own Community Learning Works project).
Meetings are free and open for members of TSL Kirklees, or for non-members who would like to visit before joining. Membership starts from £12 per year. Find out more.
